What’s in my Diaper Bag…

I have loved learning how to become the best mom for her. It hasn’t been easy figuring everything out, but half the fun is trying everything and then making a decision on what’s best for you.

Before I had Isla I’d spend hours online researching what others recommended having in their diaper bag. Every article I found said something different, but now that Isla is a month and a half old I’ve figured out what works best for us. So today I’ve teamed up with The Honest Company to share with you what I keep in my diaper bag!

  • Honest Wipes: I swear by these! I ran out once and had to resort to a different brand of wipes and Isla instantly got a diaper rash. It was so sad! I will never let myself run out again!
  • Honest Diapers: Depending on how long I’m gone changes the number of diapers I pack, but I usually keep 3-4 on hand. And how cute is this print?!
  • Honest Organic Healing Balm: If Isla’s bum ever gets irritated I use it or when either of us get dry skin it clears it right up!
  • Honest Hand Sanitizer Spray: I love that this comes in a spray bottle. I’ve already been through 3 bottles – I use it a thousand times a day!
  • Honest Sunscreen Lotion: I try to keep Isla out of the sun but with it being summertime I always keep sunscreen on her and I always have it in my bag so we can both use it.
  • Nursing Cover: I use this when I nurse her in public. It’s so much easier than a blanket because I don’t have to deal with it falling off.
  • Nipple Balm: I use this right after I nurse to prevent cracks and bleeding. It can also be used as chapstick.
  • Nursing pads: I always have these in my bag to prevent leaking. One time I didn’t have them with me and we were out to lunch and I got 2 big circles on my boobs and it was super embarrassing! So now I never leave the house without them.
  • Colic Drops: Whenever Isla has an upset stomach or trapped gas I give her 5 drops once a day and it helps her tummy.
  • Binky:  I always keep 2 binkies incase I lose one or one drops on the floor.
  • Onesie: I keep this in my bag incase of a blowout or spit up. Always have an extra change of clothes!
  • Socks: I keep a pair of socks on hand for when it’s too hot for a blanket but she wants her feet covered.
  • Nasal Cleaner: I always have this with me for when Isla’s nose gets clogged or when she’s having trouble breathing. It clears her nose right out!
  • Tote Insert: I use this insert to put in all my totes. I love that is has a bunch of different compartments to keep me organized. It instantly converts any tote into a diaper bag.

  1. I love, love, love The Honest Company! I don’t have any kids yet, but I can only imagine I will use ALL of their products when I do because I already love their lotion/shampoo/conditioner/laundry detergent/hand soap/ and dryer sheets! So happy to see you’re a fan of theirs, too!

p.s. I’ve been enjoying your posts after motherhood, Rachel! It has to be hard to get back into the swing of things as you’re balancing so much right now!

  2. My husband and I just had our baby shower over the weekend and we received quite a few items from the Honest Company. The diapers are too cute! And I love that they don’t have harmful chemicals in them. I’m definitely going to be taking advantage of their diaper delivery packages.

  3. I don’t have kids of my own, but I nanny. Not only do I use Honest company products for the family I nanny for (the delivery service is so convenient!) but it’s great for my sensitive, eczema-prone skin. And let’s be honest, they have the cutest diaper prints!

  4. I loved Honest diapers! I used them for a year with my twins. During that time my girls kept getting diaper rash. I figured it was kind of normal bc they were in diapers still. I tried everything to clear the rash, Honest brand ointment, other brands, even prescription. Both of my girls had it so bad that on two occasions (each) it became infected. I ran out of diapers a few months back and ran into the grocery store to grab a pack to last us until my shipment from Honest came. The store didn’t habe Honest so I grabbed Pampers. Within 24 hours (I kid you not) the diaper rash on both girls was completely gone. I share this bc I don’t know if there is something in Honest diapers that my babes were allergic too or if the materials in Pampers just helps to guard against diaper rash but we haven’t had an issue since then. I loved the cute prints and the thought that their diapers are “natural” but it’s much more important to me that my girls don’t have diaper rash. Thanks for your post though.

  5. Hi, what bag insert do you use? You mention it but it is not linked.

I love seeing pictures of your baby, she is very cute!

    Thank you.

  6. Isla is perfection! You look incredible. I love the Honest Company. I actually inquired to see if they are thinking about doing a women’s face care line. They said they are open to new ideas and always evolving. Crossing fingers :)

  7. Forgot to mention, you should try homeopathic products, for colic etc. Borion is a great brand that I trust. We use the Camilia for teething-no benzocaine, etc. and it’s safe from birth on. They make ones for colic too. Fennel tea is also amazing as well as infant massage. I swore by the Lansinoh!! I used it on my chapped dry hands in the winter and it worked great. If you wear it before you shower it helps to not feel pain when the water hits you. Looks like you have become quite comfortable in your role as a new mom. Best of luck!

  8. Love seeing your little girl grow and hearing about motherhood. Both my girls were born in summer and it was hard to keep them out of the sun but we were also told by doctors to not put sun screen on them until they were 6 months old.

  9. These are such sweet pictures! Your baby girl is adorable. Will you PLEASE share with us what to wear with the Alexander Wang t-shirt? I have one also and I struggle with what to wear under it…mine is a little see-through. Yours always looks great and modest. Thanks for any advice you can give!!

  10. I’m not sure if you meant to link the tote organizer or not but I’d love to know which one you use! I’ve been desperately searching for a good one since my little one was born 10 months ago! Also, maybe I missed it but I didn’t see a link for the bag either? Thanks!

  11. Eek I have the nose sucker for my boy but the snot made it through once and shot to the back of my throat, yea I’m scarred I can’t use it anymore. Our babies are only one week apart, your little one is a cutie pie!

  12. Isla is so beautiful!! Love the mom/daughter pic. I can imagine how useful this post must be for new moms!!! Great pics and recommendations!!

  13. I am having a hard time viewing the link to the tote insert! I am very interested in getting one! Could you let me know the brand? :) Thanks!

  14. Beautiful and helpful post for us preggos! On a side note, where are your gorgeous light blue throw pillows and light blue quilted throw from?
