In the Kitchen with Blue Apron…

Most of you know we just moved into our new home and I can’t even begin to explain how excited I am! After having half of our belongings packed away in storage for 8 months, I was more than ready to get organized and into the swing of our regular routine again, including making fresh and healthy dinners. I love to cook. However, while we were building, we ate out more often than not. Both Drew and I could feel it catching up with us and we just weren’t feeling energized like we usually do when we are able to eat a healthy home cooked meal. Since moving in, we’ve tried to eat at home as much as we can but I’m always surprised at how much food, especially fresh produce, is wasted because we can’t get through it before it goes bad.

Today, I want to introduce you to Blue Apron, a food service that delivers amazing recipes along with fresh ingredients, in the right amounts to your front door step weekly. I had heard great things about Blue Apron through one of my moms friends a few months ago so when they reached out to me to try their meals, I was totally on board! I’ll admit, I was a little nervous to cook the recipes because from the photos on the instruction cards, they seemed so gourmet but I was so surprised at how easy they were to make and how beautifully the finished meals turned out! Take a look!

The three meals were so delicious and so fun to cook! I enjoyed cooking something totally new and totally outside my comfort zone. I’m looking forward to whipping up more Blue Apron meals for me and my hubby in the future.

If you’re interested in trying Blue Apron, the first 250 Pink Peonies readers to sign up will enjoy 2 free meals! There’s no commitment, you can cancel any time or skip meals. Click here to see if your home falls within the Blue Apron delivery zone (they ship to 80% of the U.S.)  Happy cooking!

  1. I’ve heard of this and have been wanting to try it out–especially because I’m not that great in the kitchen! Thanks for sharing, your kitchen is beautiful!

  2. You KNOW I agree with this post, Rach! Healthy food is where it’s at! I’m glad to see someone like you notice how you physically feel when you eat differently. Most people don’t and just eat whatever they want.

P.S. Vietnamese food is where it’s at! However, I haven’t seen a Vietnamese summer roll made with those ingredients so that was interesting to see. If you or your family are ever up to it, go to restaurants where the restaurant names are all Vietnamese like Phở Biên Hòa, you’re guaranteed authenticity! :)

  3. We’ve been using blue apron for a couple months now and LOVE it! It’s so nice to have all the groceries you need to make a delicious dinner and I love not having to think about what we’re going to have for dinner a couple nights a week. Plus I’ve learned some new cooking skills!

    P.S. Your kitchen is stunning!

P.P.S. Are you both vegetarians? I notice you had 3 veggie meals.

  4. The food looks so delicious but I couldn’t help but focusing on your gorgeous kitchen!! It is to die for! I love the white marble with those hardwood floors. Totally swooning!

  5. You’re kitchen is gorgeous. I really like you’re casual outfit. Actually prefer this to you’re dresser posts. Home cooking is always the best.

  6. Hi Rach! I have to say first that I LOVE your new home and your blog! I am a daily reader! :) I am recently engaged and have started the registering process for our November wedding. I absolutely love the stainless cookware pots, and pans (I was excited to see you have them!). My question is about the maintenance and if you would recommend them. I was worried how hard it would be to keep them looking all shiny and pretty! I’m sure you must be super busy but if you happen to see this I would love your advice! Hope to hear back from you! XOXO, Amanda

  8. Hi Rachel, I’m curious what pots and pans you’re using. Are they All-Clad? How do you like them? Also, what knives do you use? I’m in need of a new set that will last a long time and handle lots of use. … I really enjoy your blog. Love the outfits you put together, especially those shoes of yours!

  9. Lovely post :) I really adore your blog you are such an inspiration to me! We had our boxes in a storage for 8 months too this year and we ate outside every time and I really ended up feeling so unhealthy :) I am glad I wasn’t the only one! Wonderful home can’t wait for a house tour on the blog and your cooking looks lovely I think I should visit SLC very soon ;)

  10. Rach- what brand of kitchen faucets are in the photos – and what finish? Is it Rohl Tuscan Brass or Inca Brass – or something else? I love the patina. I am re-doing my kitchen now…. Is that carrara marble?

  11. Have loved following along your journey with the new house, Rach! It’s absolutely beautiful! Congrats! Love these fresh recipes too, will have to try them soon!

  12. Hi Rachel, I’d like to model my kitchen after yours as it’s absolutely gorgeous! Is there any chance you could share the details on hardware (kitchen cabinets and sink) and the backsplash you used?

  13. Hi Rach,

I’m working on renovating my kitchen and your’s is one of my inspiration kitchens that I’m modeling it after. Would you mind sharing where you got your kitchen knobs and pulls from and the name? Thanks!
