Happy Friday everyone!!! First I want to thank you all for your encouraging and kind words about yesterday’s announcement of my jewelry line, Pink Peonies Collection. You all are so sweet and I can’t wait to share more details with you in the weeks to come!

This year I’m resolving to add more basics into my wardrobe. I love wearing prints and bold color but recently I’ve noticed that my wardrobe is lacking in classic staples. Now each time shop I try to pick at least one item that is a no brainer choice and can go with anything! I love this entire ensemble from LOFT because each piece is classic with an edgy twist (love the leather sleeves on the blazer and the jewels on the skinnies) and can be paired with countless pieces I already own. What are your favorite basics in your wardrobe and what are your style resolutions for the new year?

xo, Rach

Brought to you by LOFT.

  1. Absolutely love this look – you can never go wrong with good quality, stylish basics! And the Louboutin heels dress it up a little to stop it looking boring. Feel like I need to go and invest in some basics now! X

  2. I love this outfit. Very stylish and cool. I also want to invest more in certain basics that I know I can wear with a lot of different things. One thing I definitely want to get myself is a pair of leather trousers, as you can style them up or down and combine with so many other things. However I find it hard find some that really fit me perfect, so the searching continues for me :-)

  3. I feel like shopping for basics is a never ending to-do. It seems every time I buy one, I realize another I still need. It’s definitely something that must be done though. At the top of my basics look right now is a new pair of casual nikes, and I’m always in search of perfect white tees. Love this look!

  5. How true to size do these jeans run? I love the loose look you’re rocking… I’m normally a 26… Which size do you recommend?

    1. I’m usually somewhere between a 24 and 25 in most jeans. I bought a 25 because I wanted a more relaxed, boyfriend fit. With that said, I’m almost 6 months prego so if I wasn’t pregnant I probably would have bought the 24. Hope this helped!

Sometimes I’ll buy two sizes I’m debating between and return the size that doesn’t fit, maybe try that!

      Xo!

  6. I’ve recently found the same thing in my wardrobe-that I’m lacking basics. When I’m shopping, I love finding pieces that are statements and unique! You’re right that those staples are a must for fill-ins.

p.s. your pregnancy hair is fab!

  8. I love basics and giving them a twist with accessories. I am loving this outfit!! I have been looking for a jacket with leather sleeves! Thank you so much for styling this fabulous look! I immediately bought the jacket and tee!! I’ve never tried the Loft jeans before but I am loving the boyfriend fit with the jewels! I saw your advice to order two sizes to try to get the right fit. Great idea! Going to buy the jeans now! Thank you so much for doing an amazing post at such an incredible price point!!!

  9. Oh, I love the slouchy look of the jeans as well as the tailored look you lend them with the chic blazer and pointed pumps. This casual look looks amazing for office wear as well as a lovely stroll through the city. I’ve been trying to get ideas on how to dress up my dowdy old jeans and all of the inspiration i’ve gotten from you as well as from http://thejeansblog.com/jeans-advice/how-to-wear-double-denim/ and http://bit.ly/19tgPwk have me excited to step out in my fresh new outfits!
